Guwahati: A member of the CPM Polit Bureau, Brinda Karat, after meeting families who were evicted in Dholpur, on Thursday Rupi the fate of the family living in no hygienic conditions without medical assistance, other drinking water.
“The fate of the refugees is worse than war prisoners.
Not a single pissa given for rehabilitation.
We were told by women and children, many of them cried, that they did not have water, latrines, shelters, food and medical facilities,” said Rust.
Rust is afraid of the possibility of a typhoid epidemic because of the dirty water forced by the family to drink.
“Girls and women with menstrual related conditions are the worst patients.
There are several rules even for prisoners,” he said.
While the school has been reopened in the country phase, he regretted that a number of children from families who were evicted were unable to go to school.
“We also found that all roads to the area have been blocked by administration and so it is very difficult to get their medical help,” Karat said.
He accused the government led by BJP to revoke the family of the land of Fertile Dholpur cultivation in the Constituency of Sipajhar Darrang District without examining their documents that validate their claims for years.
“They have papers needed to show their work and in some cases land ownership,” Karat said, claiming that he saw many documents like that in public consultations.
“It seems that the constitution and legal framework are suspended in this area,” Karat said.
Revealing the findings of the visit of Wednesday to three segments of Dholpur, he shot a letter to Himanta Buswa Sarma by asserting that around 1,000 poor farmers, who had given birth to the land for the past 50 years have been expelled.
The CPM leader alleged that since the last eviction driving on September 23, there were no government officials who visited the people.
“Instead, we saw several armed police teams in areas that were none other than intimidation.
We also saw the government deployed tractors plowing and sowing land.
Without resolving claims, the government took illegal steps to achieve land,” Karat for CM Sarma.
