Mumbai: A police officer and the other two have been arrested for alleged murder of a 54-year-old police who died in a hit-and-run incident in Panvel in neighboring Navi Mumbai last month, an official said on Thursday.
The police took Shivaji M Sanap died after a nano car hit him near the Panvel train station on August 15.
But after his wife suspected playing photos, the police began investigating the corner of the murder and finally arrested Pansare Shitar (29), Sanap.
Colleagues at the Nehru Nagar police station in Mumbai, and his two mercy, said police officials.
Sanap lives in Pune from where he travels to Mumbai every day through Panvel.
From the CCTV footage, a Panvel police team led by Senior Inspector Ajaykumar Landge focused on two people who seem to have followed him at the Kurla train station on August 15, the official said.
Probe revealed that Sanap and Pansare did not get along well, and the firs had been registered in Sanap on his complaint for alleged sexual abuse in 2019.
The police also knew that Pansare had married one Dhanraj Jadhav in 2018 who then lived there and now left Chennai.
Pansare allegedly wanted to kill Sanap for the past two years, and had asked her husband to help him, according to the police.
When he refused to help, he filed a complaint for his ‘obscenity’ against him, followed what he left Mumbai, the official said.
The police approached Dhanraj Jadhav who identified one of the suspects seen in CCTV footage in Kurla as Vishal Baban Jadhav (18), the son of the guard in the housing complex where Pansare lived.
Vishal’s question led the police to Ganesh Laxman Chavan aka Mudawath (21) who was arrested from Vicarabad in Telangana on Wednesday.
The duo was suspected to tell the police that Pansare had hatched the conspiracy to kill Sanap and trace them to do a hit-and-run accident.
The defendant had tried to burn the car after the crime, the official said, added that it had been restored by the researchers.
Active search for some suspects in this case, he said.
