Kochi: The filmmaker Ali Akbar said he and his wife Lucyaamma would enter Hinduism and would no longer be Muslim.
Akbar said that he decided to leave his Islamic faith after the alleged incident of several Muslims putting a smiling emoticon under the post and comments about social media related to the death of the head of the defense staff General Crash Helicopter.
Akbar said even the top Muslim leaders did not oppose such actions by ‘anti-citizens’ which blocked brave military officers and that he could not accept it.
He posted a video on his Facebook page on Wednesday that he had lost trust in religion.
“Today, I threw away the clothes I received from birth.
From today and so on, I’m not a Muslim.
I am an Indian.
That’s my reply to people who posted thousands of emoticons smiling towards India,” Akbar said in the video.
This post has attracted severe criticism from Muslim users on Facebook.
Even though it will ‘disappear’ from Facebook, it’s a lot circulated on WhatsApp.
Then Akbar made another post where he said, “The nation must identify those who smile at the death of the CD and punish them.” Speak to Toi, said Akbar.
“The majority of users commented with the emoticons of smiling and celebrating the news of the mortgage was Muslim.
They did this because it had taken some actions against Pakistan and militants in Kashmir,” he said.
Ali Akbar, who was a member of the BJP State Committee, left the post in October after several disagreements with party leadership.
