The financial crisis will not regard the government’s expenses for higher education: Kerala Minister K n Balagopal

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister of Finance K n Balagopal said here on Wednesday that the state financial crisis facing would not stop the government to make an important investment in the higher education sector.
He opened the Valediktoral function from a two-day workshop organized by the State Higher Education Council to develop a road map for quality improvement in this sector.
“The government is committed to making investment and appointments that are very much needed in the higher education sector,” he said.
He also called for proactive intervention by the University in growing academics and industrial relations.
“Universities must identify areas and new research projects.
Academic discourse and research activities must develop so that they must have direct relations with agriculture and industry.
Universities must consider the development of simple instruments that are needed in the agricultural and construction sectors,” he said.
The Minister of Higher Education R Bindhu said the government would take follow-up measures based on advice in a two-day workshop.
“The roadmap will be prepared with the right understanding of the weaknesses and strength of the system,” he said.
