Helsinki: The Finnish opposition party, Finland Party, has chosen Riikka Purra, a 44-year-old parliamentary member, as his new chairman, making him the first woman to hold a position.
Purra said he would not change much about the current party policy, but want to focus more on economic problems, promised to limit immigration, report the Xinhua news agency.
He received 774 votes on Saturday, about 59% of the 1,302 ballots thrown at a party conference in Seinejoki.
Finland was founded in 1995 and its predecessor is a Rural Party of Finland, who came from the populist movement in the 1950s and 1960s.
