Gurgaon: A small fire broke in a civilian bathroom, sector 10 on Monday morning, triggered panic among patients.
The fire was immediately watered and there were no reported injuries.
The hospital official said the fire was caused by short circuit in the restroom of the workspace, which was on the first floor.
The four patients who were in the workspace at that time were evacuated safely.
The patient in the nearest room ran towards the ground floor, which created panic among people.
“Because of a short circuit, the electric cable burned in the lap room on the first floor at 9:30 a.m., where four women were received.
After the power was restored, the patient was sent back to the workspace at around 10:10 a.m.,” said Manish Rathee, Deputy Supervisor Medical hospital.
“We managed to put out the fire in a few minutes because it was considered by the hospital staff very quickly,” he added.
Hospitals, which have more than 500 patients and staff received and visited by more than 3,000 patients out every day, do not have adequate fire safety arrangements.
According to fire engines, hospitals were handed over by HSVP to the Ministry of Health in 2012 without compliance with fire safety norms.
“This management has applied for a certificate without objection (NOC), but it is not approved after inspection,” said an official from the fire department.
The hospital again applied for NOC in December 2018.
Due to irregularity, but failed to get a certificate, officially more.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health said he had sent a request to Haryana Directorate General of Health who was looking for Rs 1.8 Crore to improve the deviation of fire safety.
Virender’s Gurgaon Medical Officer Head Yadav said: “The problem has been discussed with hospital staff and major medical officers have been asked to take adequate action.”
