Kolkata: A massive fire broke out on Monday morning in a four-story building here, which accommodated several small business places and storage space, said a senior official.
Thirty tenders had been pressed into the service to extinguish the fire that had raged for more than nine hours in the Colootala Regional Building which was jammed, he said.
There were no casualties that had been reported so far, firefighting officials were stated.
A stack of garments and plastic material stacked in several building rooms which then helped spread the fire, he showed.
Some explosions occur inside the building, maybe because the cooking gas cylinder remains inside, in the midst of fire department operations, the official said.
“Our people struggle to extinguish the fire.
The rooms in it are filled with combustible materials that spread relatively faster.
The very dense area, firefighters have difficulty watering the fire,” he was maintained.
The cause of the fire has not been confirmed, the official said.
First Minister of Fire and Emergency Services Sujit Bose, who rushed to Colootala as soon as the news broke, had oversee fire department since morning.
Incidentally, Bose complained of discomfort during the day during supervision, the senior fire extinguisher said.
However, he returned to work after a short break, the official added.
