Guwahati: A film Assamese on the Dying String of his puppet is all ready to hit the cinema throughout the state on Friday.
After the State Government stated that he nodded to reopen the film space from October 1, this would be the first ASSAMESE film to hit the screen after a gap of 18 months due to Covid-19 pandemic.
At least 12 of the 78 halls in the state have continued film screening because the maximum number of theaters remained closed due to several problems, including the lack of recovery of intermittent electrical connections and delayed engine services.
Film, “life in a doll”, was originally scheduled to be released in April.
But the release was postponed after the second wave of Covid-19 crashed into the country and the entire country.
The film has been produced and directed by Rajen Das, assistant professor of philosophy at NH College in Bajali Assam District, and has been played at various festivals.
The plot rotates around the lives of artists related to the form of folk art and their situation with very little demand for dolls today.
“There are times when the country’s socio-cultural life is incomplete without a puppet theater.
Now, artists look at the uncertain future.
But they hope that one day the art form will be revived,” said the watershed.
He added that the idea was to put art and artists on the world stage.

Narayan Doli Doll String Artists, who have made a major contribution to the art form in the last 35 years, and the popular actor Asha Bordoloi will display in the film.
Nearly 49 more artists have appeared in the film, the budget pegged at Rs 10 Lakh, without taking any remuneration.
Meanwhile, mobile theater groups also recently started their tour in all states, after the Ministry of Health provided his approval to groups to show performances.
