Maharashtra officially confirmed the first case of the Zika virus virus infection born by a mosquito on Saturday.
The blood sample from the population of 50-year-old Delsar Village (Purandar Taluka) in Pune District was tested positive for Zika-Chikungunya co-infection in the Indian Board of Medical Research – National Virology Institute (ICMR-NIV) in Pune Friday.
Samples were taken as part of routine supervision to put aside the disease borne by mosquitoes after several villagers showed symptoms of dengue / chikungunya in the village of Belsar and Parinche in Purandar Taluka since the beginning of July.
After detection Zika, the state supervision machine intensified the supervision of fever in seven surrounding villages, including the Belsar (Purandar), where the woman lived with her family.
“Housewives do not have a history of travel.
He has symptoms on July 14.
He truly recovered and has no symptoms now.
There are no family members who have symptoms too,” said the State Supervisory Officer Pradip Awate.
The initial investigation of ICMR-NIV suggested a mixed outbreak of dengue, chikungunya and Zika, with the dominance of Chikungunya in Belsar.
“The case of the Zika Human virus was reported for the first time from Maharashtra.
The results guarantee deep investigation for the Zika virus in this region,” Priya Abraham, Director, ICMR-NIV, was stated in the preliminary report.
Virus detection once again strengthens the importance of supervision of fever to take virus disease.
“A team of ICMR-NIV visited the villages of Belsare and Parinche on July 27-29 after a blood sample of three villagers, withdrawn as part of the supervision of fever, tested positive for Chikungunya on July 16,” Waltate said.
The team collected a sample of 51 villagers to Chikungunya’s suspicion.
“Among the 41 samples which were all available results, blood samples from 25 positive cases for chikungunya.
Three positive for dengue fever and one positive sample for Zika and Chikungunya,” said ICMR-NIV report.
