Kanpur: There is a good piece of news for passengers who use public transportation in the city and environmental lovers.
To reduce the adverse effects on our environment and provide a cleaner and more green transit with sophisticated zero-emissions, the first fleet of 13 electric buses arrived in the city on Saturday.
Electric bus testing is being carried out, which will be ready for public operation for one month (trial) in the first week of December this year, official information.
In the Commissioner of Division on Saturday Raj Shekhar, along with Nagar Ayukt, Smart City officers, city bus service officers and PMI Agency officers (who will manage electric buses and charging stations) visiting charging stations in Ahirwan to see progress and work plans for the initial execution of the project in land.
Incharge PMI officers told officials that a total of 100 electric buses had been allocated to the city of Kanpur by the government.
From those, the first lot of 13 buses arrived in the city on Saturday.
47 other buses will come on December 15 and 40 remaining buses will come in January 2022.
PMI Incharge officers said that there were a total of 25 charging stations / points planned for the operation of 100 buses.
Five charging stations will be fully prepared on November 27 and 13 buses can be charged to these five points from November 28 and so on.
The remaining 20 charging points will be completed on December 15 and then they will be tested for the operation one week after.
Commissioner, Ayukt Nagar and Team sharing about bus features such as CCTV coverage, safety steps such as panic buttons, alarms, wireless sets, emergency termination functions and touch panels for overall control of the bus operation.
All features are being checked and they will all be checked and certified in the next week.
The Commissioner ordered the city bus official committee, smart city officers, PMI representatives, and one experts from IIT or HBTU for final checks and bus certifications before using them for general operations.
Seeing the need for a large public toilet at the filling station, Commissionione also asked Nagar Ayukt to prepare estimates for the same thing and finish it in the next two months.
Nagar Ayukt also renewed the commissioner that road widening work and underground cable installation work ongoing and will be completed on December 15, this year.
Along with this, the 500 meter additional road connectivity proposal will also be taken at the end of next month and will be completed in January 2022.
It will facilitate the problem of traffic congestion in the area and will ensure the movement of electric buses smoothly to and from charging stations in Ahirwan.
