Panaji: Minister of Power Nilesh Cabral said on Friday that the state government would assign the cave-isolated substation of the Gas Cave in Davorlim this month, at the cost of Rs 32 Crore.
He said consumers connected to this substation would not have a power problem for the next 40 years.
He also said that GIS, “the most modern concept”, will serve consumers who live in DavoriM, Navelim and some parts of Margao and Curorim, among others.
“The Navelim constituency will benefit in general,” he said.
Cabral said that GIS would eventually be implemented throughout the state.
Cabral said that GIS was a concept that was driven by technology, with a little human intervention.
“This will be a benchmark for other substations in the future,” he said, adding that the office will be established in GIS, and maintenace will also be less.
Cabral said that when the Electricity Department could not expand the substation under the KONKAN RAILWA (KR) bridge, Kr wanted to move the substation, which was on their land, and that was why the new GIS work was taken.
“Once we assign new GIS, the substation on the Konkan railroad will be removed,” he said.
He also said that the Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant would formalize the project.
Cabral said that the work of the underground cable installation in the state, but because of the high prices, contractors were not advancing to bid up the tender.
“Our priority is taking 11kv and 33kv (lines) underground,” he said.
