Udaipur: Minister of Welfare Welfare of Regional Welfare Tribe Arjun Singh Bamania has announced the establishment of the State Children’s Hockey Academy in Udaipur.
The academy is expected to be inaugurated by the minister’s chairman on the occasion of World Tribal Day.
“The Head of State Secretary Shikhar Agarwal has been directed to provide all important facilities at the Academy,” said Pragya Kewalramani, Commissioner, Tribal Area Development.
Forty young tribal players will be chosen for the Academy.
On Thursday, the selection process began at Hockey Astroturf Ground in the presence of the Chief Coach Arjuna Award Winner Olympian Dhyanchand in Sports Village Maharana Pratap.
The selection process will continue until July 11.
Kuldeep Singh Jhala and National Level Referee Mohammed Hanif was also present on that occasion.
Shakeel Hussian sports officers said 80 prospective tribal players from seven sports hostels were chosen so far.
All facilities for the Hockey Academy will be given to players by the tribal department.
