Coimbatore: The first medical campsite under the Kalignarin Varumun Cappom scheme was held at Coimbatore City on Tuesday.
Commissioner Coimbatore Corporation King Gopal Sunkara inaugurated the camp held in a corporate-managed secondary school in Chinnavedampatti.
Corporate officials said 21 stalls were established in camps.
Doctors from 10 specializations are issued to examine people and provide the necessary care.
Blood examination, ultrasound, ECG and echo are done for free in camp.
Initial care for people who have health problems is given to them.
Medicines needed for them are also provided free.
A doctor said that the main purpose of this scheme was to identify medical problems in people in the initial state and provide guidance needed to them to be treated earlierly.
Often people are aware of their health problems at the next stage, which makes it challenging for doctors.
It also provides unnecessary complications to people.
Deputy Director of Health Services (Coimbatore District) Dr.
P Aruna and City Health Officer Dr.
Sathish Kumar and the others took part.
Corporate officials said four camps would be carried out in the city in the next few days.
The camp will take place in certain places between 9am and 4pm.
In rural areas, 36 camps are scheduled to be held.
