Gandhinagar: Gandhinagar city people will choose Sunday to choose representatives to Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC).
The election promised to become a cornered contest between the powerful BJP, the opposition congress, and new participants AAP.
With restrictions that have recently been implemented in Gandhinagar and with several neighboring villages included in city corporate boundaries, BJP seems to make a big profit in the civic body.
For its part, the congress aims to consolidate its position among state capital voters.
The election of GMC assumes its importance because it will be the first major election test from the new CM, Bhupendra Patel.
GMC also fell under the Lok Sabha constituency represented by the Ministers of Union Amit Shah.
A large number of government employees live in the state capital.
Both Congress and BJP have promised work for residents of Gandhinagar, while AAP claims to have emerged as an alternative from BJP and Congress.
Congress leader Nishit Vyas said his party’s manifesto focused on work and reflected Gandhinagar’s people’s ambitions.
“Even though Gandhinagar is the state capital, BJP has done very little for city people,” Vyas said.
“I’m sure people will choose extraordinary for Congress.” BJP spokesman Yamal Vyas said that the state and central government had worked together to make Gandhinagar a vibrant capital for the past few years.
“With world-class education institutions, gift cities, and other projects, Gandhinagar has evolved into a modern city,” he said.
“BJP will sweep the election.” Vote counting will be taken on Tuesday.
