Thiruvananthapuram: The Flood Cess applied by the government in August 2019, aimed at raising funds for post-flood reconstruction of the state, will be close to July 31.
The government has enforced CESS into the country reconstruction after the 2018 flood.
Cess was launched as 1% in addition to goods and services, after permission from the GST Board.
Then it was decided to continue Cess for two years.
The flood Cess announced in the 2019-20 budget speech, aimed at raising around 1,200 crore rs every year.
In accordance with the number until March 31 this year, the government has collected Rs 1,705.24 Crore through CESS flood.
The government hopes the final figures are expected to cross Rs 2,000 Crore.
Price of household appliances, electronic goods, vehicles, etc., tend to reduce after the Cess is removed.
Cess currently applies to all products with a GST level of 12%, 18% and 28%.
Products with gst zero percent rates up to 5% have been excluded.
Also, traders, who are suspected taxpayers with annual turnover up to Rs 1.5 Crore, are also removed from the Cess.
