Mumbai: The police on Tuesday arrested a 24-year-old man from Nallasopara within 24 hours after he entered a medical store in Andheri (East) using a duplicate key and made from One Lakh Cash Hospital which was stored in the Locker at night from December 5.
White shirts and faces covered with masks captured on closed circuit television (CCTV) led Andheri police to the defendant was identified as Ajay Gupta and managed to recover cash in RS 61,000.
Gupta was hired at Vora Medicals before he left the job three years ago.
The owner of Vora Medicals, Mukesh Vora (59), filed a complaint when he watched the money missing from the store locker on Monday morning.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zona X) Maheshwar Reddy said the Gupta did not submit a duplicate key ship after he stopped working.
“He has been looking for an opportunity to steal using a duplicate key because he knows daily collection and cash stored in the store,” Reddy said.
Gupta entered the store around 11pm using a duplicate button.
“Nobody suspects it when he opened the shop at that hour.
The theft happened on the busy line where the shop was located.
He closed his face when he left the shop after stealing.
