Bareilly: Former Governor of Uttar Pradesh Aziz Qureshi, 81, has been slapped with the incitement to the police for alleged comments to lower it against the head of Yogi Adityanath minister.
The FIR was registered with the complaint of the Akash Saxena BJP member at the Civil Line Police Station in the Rampi District, on Sunday night.
QureShi, who is a member of the senior Congress, also served as the 15th Governor of Mizoram in 2014-15.
He was in Rampi to meet with the leader of the Jamajwadi Party, Azam Khan’s wife, Tazeen Fatima at his residence on Saturday.
Then, while handling the media, he allegedly compared the Yogi government with “Satan”.
Akash, in his complaint to the police, also said “comments made by Qureshi get traction on social media that can create tensions between two communities and even lead to communal riots”.
The police have slapped parts of the 153a [promoting hostility between two groups with religious land, races, [imputation, [imputation, prejudice statements for national integration], 124a [Seducation] and 505] – [intention to cause fear or alarm to the public] .
Additional Rombang SP Sansaar Singh told the Toi, “the complaint was submitted by Akash Saxena against the former Governor of Aziz Queshi and after the initial investigation of the FIR was registered in the relevant section.” We will take further action in accordance with the law.
