New Delhi: Former Chairman of the Minister of Punjab captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday officially resigned from Congress and also announced the name of his new party.
In the resignation letter aimed at the President of Congress Sonia Gandhi, Amarinder Singh wrote that he stopped in “the interests of my country and my country”.
“In 2017, I led the party for a roar victory to win 77 of 117 seats in Vidhan Sabha’s highest since the country, in its current form, as created in 1966.

In the 2017 assembly poll, Congress has won an absolute majority in the state by winning 77 seats and overthrow the SAD-BJP government after 10 years.
Aam Aadmi appeared as the second largest party that won 20 seats in 117 members of the Punjab legislature.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) can only win 15 seats while BJP secures 3 seats.
