New Delhi: Former Chairman of the Minister of Punjab captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday officially resigned from Congress and also announced the name of his new party.
In the resignation letter aimed at the President of Congress Sonia Gandhi, Amarinder Singh wrote that he stopped in “the interests of my country and my country”.
“In 2017, I led the party for a roar victory to win 77 of 117 seats in Vidhan Sabha’s highest since the country, in its current form, as created in 1966.
Since I took over in 2017, I led the party to win 8 from seats 13 Lok Sabha, against a large BJP wave throughout the country.
We won all the companies and city elections other than, two-thirds of the Pancrayat election.
We also won four of the five bye-elections to Punjab Vidhan.

Immediately after stopping, Amarinder also announced the name of his party ‘Punjab Lok Congress’.
Former Punjab CM said his party registration was awaiting the approval of the Election Commission.
Amarinder Singh has resigned when the Punjab minister’s head in September amid bitter strength upheaval with the head of the Navjot Singh Sidhu Navjot State Congress.
He has announced that he will form his own party.
The former Punjab CM also said that he was open to the Alliance with BJP if the ongoing issue of farmer protests was resolved.
Punjab is scheduled to pass the assembly poll in 2022.
In the 2017 assembly poll, Congress has won an absolute majority in the state by winning 77 seats and overthrow the SAD-BJP government after 10 years.
Aam Aadmi appeared as the second largest party that won 20 seats in 117 members of the Punjab legislature.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) can only win 15 seats while BJP secures 3 seats.
