Manchester: The Manchester United Premier League match in Brentford on Tuesday was postponed because a number of Covid-19 cases at the Old Trafford club, the league was announced on Monday.
United reported a “small number” case found among the main team staff and players on Sunday, with troops traveling to Norwich City for their Premier League match on Saturdays that have a virus.
“The decision (to postpone Brentford-United’s game was taken to follow the guidelines from the medical advisor due to the extraordinary state of the Covid-19 outbreak in the Manchester United forces,” the League said in a statement.
“The first team operation in the Carrington Club training complex was closed today to help control the outbreak and minimize the risk of further infection among the players and staff.” The discussion occurred with the Premier League about whether it would be safe to meet Tuesday’s equipment, with United delaying their journey to London until the decision was made.
The Premier League found a record of 42 Covid-19 cases among the players and staff at various clubs during the past week.
