Coimbatore: Seven men, who were involved in robbing two people from Kerala cars, RS3 Lakh and cellphones, were arrested on Tuesday.
Madukkarai police said the gang of the members, led by Suraj alias Ansar, has created an account at OLX and places an ad to sell pickup trucks.
Sujith Kumar, who runs courier services in Kerala, contact Suraj after seeing ads.
“Suraj agreed to sell pickup trucks to Sujith and invited him to come in front of the Medical College and hospitals near Madukkarai,” said a police officer who was bound to the Madukkarai police station.
Sujith, along with three friends, including Sunil Kumar, reached the College’s car in a car on July 7.
Suraj also reached there with two legs and told Sujith that pickup trucks were in the nearest garage.
The trio went to the car with Sujith and Sunil to the garage, leaving two other Sujith friends near the college.
When the car reaches an isolated place, Suraj and friends struggle Sujith and Sunil, steal three cellphones, RS3 Lakh and cars.
They dispose of Suraj and Sunil on the Polachi-Palakkad highway and accelerate, “said the officer.
Sujith immediately submitted a complaint to the Madukkarai police.
During the vehicle examination at Madukkarai Check Post, the police arrested the gang of seven members as they traveled by a truck.
The police have recovered all stolen goods from the gang.
