Bareilly: a 19-year-old girl was shot dead allegedly by her ex-boyfriend when she was driving home with her brother on the bike in Bareilly district on Monday night.
The defendant, identified as Rajneesh (who goes by her first name), went to the same school as the victim girl.
The brother of the victim told police that they were returning home after shopping in the East region Fatehanj, when Rajnish come before the bike and when he applied the brakes, allegedly kicked him, knocking those brothers and sisters of the bike on the road.
Furthermore, he dragged his sister by the hair, tore her clothes and shot him five times in the empty lane.
The wounded man said the attack had ended even before he could pick it up and save his sister.
Rohit Singh Sajwan, senior superintendent Bareilly Police (SSP) said that while the police team was looking for Rajneesh, he walked to the SSP office on Tuesday afternoon and surrendered along with the murder weapon.
He says he killed her because he did not keep his promise to marry her.
Some villagers claim the girl broke the relationship with Rajneesh after his parents talk about their relationship and did not approve.
They fix her marriage elsewhere and he obeyed the wishes of her parents.
SSP Sajwan said, “The girl was shot in the neck and abdomen and he died on the spot.
His body was handed over to the family after autopsy on Tuesday.
FIR has been registered in Rajneesh under Section Criminal Code India 302 (murder) and 504 (deliberate insult ).
The accused has been sent to jail.
