New Delhi: Prospective women will now be appointed at the National Defense Academy, the center tells the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
The government added that the decision was taken after consultation with three services.
We were very pleased to know that the armed forces themselves made a decision to look at women in NDA, said the court while praising the government’s move.
The Supreme Court previously asked for defense forces to take a more proactive approach to gender equality, instead of the court directing them to do so.
The upper court also said that the government must recognize the important role carried out by women in defense forces.
