Panaji: The Department of Tourism on Tuesday issued orders that provide 50% neglect on registration and updates for various tourist trading activities.
Shack operators and other service providers have demanded help with the last two seasons that were beaten badly.
The request was also made because the department has implemented a new cost structure, hiking them for various services, rationalizing costs.
The services left behind were also brought under the legal ambit.
Stakeholders want the government to maintain the implementation of new costs to hold until the situation increases, and the submission of securities is made to the government.
The government finally decided to offer a 50% neglect instead.
Last season, only beach shack operators were given discounts for license fees.
This year, the benefits have been extended to more services.
Those who are eligible to receive 50% assistance in registration fees and updates are ‘C’ and the ‘D’ category, dealers, travel agents, and tour operators, water sports activities, private huts, and huts, photographers, travel guides, adventures, Adventure of sports activities and spice plantations.
The costs paid for the financial year 2021-22 will be adjusted to the debt for next year, read orders issued by the Director of Tourism Menino D’Souza.
A tourism trader said that everything was very difficult for small operators, good taxi operators or someone who runs a small juest house.
“Paying emis is a big problem even though some relieved is accepted in front of it, but the sustainability becomes difficult because of its prolonged closure.
