Google is reported to work on updates for the Google TV application (or play movies & TV) to bring the feature to allow you to control your Android TV from the application itself.
With this update, you no longer need to hunt for your TV remote controller because you can do all the actions of the application itself.
According to report by 9to5 Google, Google can carry the Android TV remote option with version 4.27 from the application.
There is no official word from Google until now and it seems that Google tests the feature.
Long distance features have not been fully developed and there may be a few last minute tweaks.
The Google TV application for Android previously received beta updates that showed the functionality to play your cellphone into the TV remote with version 4.25 of the application.
Now, in the new version 4.27, Google has improved it.
According to the report by the XDA developer, “To control the TV, first you have to pair a TV to the application by selecting it from the available TV list.
This will start the installation process, where you have to enter a 4-digit PIN code displayed on your TV in the application .
“After the process is complete, the user will be able to use their smartphone as a remote control for Android TV.
The idea behind this step, according to the report, is that the Google TV application will be able to connect via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
It’s not as if Google doesn’t have a previous remote control application.
Called Android TV Remote Control App, this application has been there in the Play Store for a while and is intended to turn your cellphone into a remote.
However, the application has not seen an update in four years – since 2017 – which clearly means it is not functional with newer Android TVs.
