Golaghat (Assam): On the occasion of World Rhino Day, the Government of Assam on Wednesday lights up around 2,500 rhinoceros horns to remove myths associated with it.
Badak Horn was burned in Bokakhat, Golaghat Assam District, near Kaziranga National Park and Tiger (KNPTR) reserve.
The state government has decided to destroy 2,479 horn rhinos while 94 horns will be preserved for academic purposes.
With the help of a drone, Minister of Himanta’s minister could Sarma start the process of burning rhinoceros.

“Rhino horned one is not only an integral of our civilization, but also a symbol of our valuable heritage and identity.
We preserve 94 rhinoceros horns to be displayed in the museum that will be arranged in Kaziranga National Park.

Assam has the largest population of greater horned rhinos (Rhinoceros Unicorn) in the world.
About 2,600 Rhino individuals are found in Kaziranga National Park, Manas and people, besides Pobita Wildlife Asylum.
They were previously found in Wildlife Sanctuary Laiokhowa and several other parts of the state of Tiawepara in the West to Dibru-Saikhowa National Park in the East.
