Guwahati: Head of Assam Minister Himanta Buswa Sarma on Wednesday said that the government is committed to establishing legal universities to provide quality education at affordable costs.
The minister’s chairman said this while laiding the foundation of Jorhat Government Law College, according to a statement issued by the office of the Minister of Chief.
The state government has decided to establish a college in Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur North, Rangia, Dhubri, DIFU, Silchar, Tezpur, Nalbari, and Nagaon, and all institutions will have modern facilities, Sarma said.
Previously, most of the legal universities in the state were founded by private organizations, said the minister’s chairman.

After the 2020 national education policy, the state government has decided to implement policy provisions throughout the state to bring a change in paradigm in the submission of quality education in the state, he said.
As part of NEP 2020, 3,000 secondary schools in the state will be increased to high school in 2022, he added.
The state government will also increase the number of universities in the state and have set goals to establish one university in every block of development to spread higher education among all parts of the country youth.
The Jorhat Government Law College will be established with RS budget expenditure.
14.74 Crore and scheduled to be completed within 24 months.
