New Delhi: a long-delayed airbus-procedure project to build 56 C-295 transport aircraft, which will replace the APRO-748 Lama IAF aircraft at a cost of more than Rs 21,000 Crore (around $ 3 billion), finally cleaned by the cabinet committee on security on security Wednesday.
While 16 C-295MW Twin-Turboprop aircraft will be delivered in a condition of flair by M / S Airbus Defense and Space (Spain) within two years of the signing of the actual contract, the remaining 40 will be produced in India by India by India by the consortium of Tata within 10 year.
This will be the first time an Indian private sector company will produce military aircraft, even with technology transfers from foreign companies, breaking down the Virtual Monopoly of the PSU Defense Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (p) in the field.
The C-295 project, which has been delayed nearly a decade, is not only intended to replace Avro aircraft, which was first appointed in the early 1960s.
New aircraft will also take several “tasks” from the aging AN-32 fleet.
Transport aircraft capacity of 5-10 tons, C-295MW has a rear ramp door for fast reactions and para-dropping troops and cargo.
All 56 aircraft will be installed with Indigenous Electronic Warfare Suites.
“This project will provide encouragement for aerospace ecosystems in India where some MSMEs spread in the country will be involved in making parts of the aircraft.
The C-295 aircraft can even find several buyers in the Civil Aviation Market at the next stage,” an official said.
“Before completing shipping, MRO facilities (maintenance, repair and operation) for the C-295MW aircraft are scheduled to be established in India.
It is expected that this facility will act as a regional MRO center for various C-295 aircraft variants,” he added.
The Deformation Board (DAC) in May 2015, was led by Defense Minister Manohar Parragar, first agreed to the Airbus project in what was seen as a bold step after the previous upa regime had developed strong pressure from.
The PSU lobby, as reported by TOI.
Another concern is that the Airbus project has emerged as a “single vendor” in Fray.
But the government holds a technical and commercial offer of the Airbus consortium has been delivered in a competitive environment, although seven other competitors have retreated for one reason or another.
It has taken more than six years since it was to nod a final by CCS now.
