New Delhi: The government has registered a short duration discussion on the issue of farmers at Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, which is seen as a step by the treasury bench to test the opposition who has protested several problems, including spyware and agricultural laws, to stop parliament.
Business listings for Tuesday mention the proposed discussion about “agricultural problems and solutions”.
Notice for this delivered by nine parliamentarians including three members of the Congress Parliament, Jairam Ramesh, Anand Sharma and Pratap Singh Bajwa.
As soon as the discussion is registered in the revised business list, Ramesh Tweeted, “Tomorrow, in a too smart step, Modi Govt has scheduled a discussion about ‘agricultural problems and solutions’ and adds my name to it.
The discussion has nothing to do with my notice given to July 23 at the ongoing farmer agitation.
“On Monday, the Chairperson of Rajya Sabha M Venkaiiah Naidu said he had received seven notifications to discuss Pegasus, the issue of farmers and floods throughout the state by suspending other businesses.
As soon as he said that he agreed to notice for discussion about the issue of farmers, lawmakers from the opposition party, led by members of the Trinamool Congress parliament, began to make demands for discussions about Pegasus.
They said the government had to discuss the problem of reconnaissance.
