Bengaluru: In the encouragement for the industry, the government has permitted oxygen producers to supply resources for industrial purposes by reducing the liquid medical oxygen daily quota (LMO) for covid care of 580 tons to 300 tons to 300 tons.
“With the second Covid-19 wave firmly succumbing, we have reduced LMO demand and manufacturers now supplying oxygen to the industry as long as they adhere to LMO storage and supply norms,” said Secretary Chief P Ravi Kumar.
After the guideline was issued by the center on June 8 which allows manufacturers to supply to the industry, the state government virtually eliminates orders by introducing motorists.
It is said that the manufacturer must maintain the stock of LMO equal to 50% of their total storage capacity to be eligible to supply gas for industrial purposes.
This also limits the use of industrial oxygen depending on the production capacity of each producer.
For example, Bhoruka Gasses Ltd., with a production capacity of 65 tons, is permitted to supply 18% for industrial purposes.
JSW Industrial Gas Pvt Ltd, which can produce 130 tons a day, is not permitted to supply to the industry because it fails to ensure 50% of LMO shares.
While the government’s military rules remain, the limit of the amount of oxygen supply for industrial purposes has been removed.
“Because the rise of the industry is as important as Covid’s care, the state government decides to enable producers to supply any industry outside of 300 tons, which is the current Daily LMO requirement.
The central allocation for Karnataka is 1,200 tons, and we hope the demand will be LMO is reduced so that the industry can use more oxygen, “said Industrial Commissioner Gunjan Krishna.
This comes as a big assistance for the industry and manufacturer of resources and all officials of the Association of Industrial Gas Industrial Manufacturers (AIIGMA), the consumption of industrial oxygen has increased dramatically from 15% last week to 50% today.
“The increase shows hidden requests and we expect it to return to the pre-covid level at the end of July provided by Covid’s case continues to decline,” said AIGMA VICEPRESIDENT SAHASRANAM.
Industry in Karnataka usually consumes around 70% of 650 tons produced every day, said Sahasranam.
The data of Covid State’s war room showed that LMO consumption reached 288 tons on June 26, while eight producers together supply 362 tons.
Their cumulative production capacity is 839 tons.
“There are no problems that supply oxygen to the industry because there is adequate stock.
We will continue to monitor the situation,” said Munish Moudgil, Nodal Officer for LMO supply.
Blackmarket still develops many industries, especially MSMEs are still annoyed at a short supply of oxygen even though the government lifts the sidewalk.
“Many manufacturers and oxygen refills are still under pressure from government officials.
Therefore, Blackmarket is growing up to buy oxygen with the pretext of using it for medical purposes and selling it to the industry at a higher price,” said C Prakash, President, Peenya Industries Association.
