The government makes a three-point safety belt mandatory for all passengers facing forward in the car

New Delhi: The government has made it mandatory for car makers to provide a three-point seat belt for all passengers faced with faces in the car.
The norm will also apply to the middle seat in the rearguard of the car, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari told a press conference on Thursday.
“I have signed a file yesterday to make it mandatory for the car maker to provide a three-point seat belt for all the front facing passengers in the car,” said road transportation and the Minister of Highways.
At present, only the front seat and two rear seats in most of the cars produced in this country have a three-point seat belt.
However, the center or center back seat in these cars is equipped with only two-point seat belts or laps, similar to those provided in the aircraft chair.
Gadkari said as many as 1.5 lakh people died every year in 5 lakh bodies in the country.
