Coimbatore: Last month, the center had given permission to recognize 850 students to a medical program in seven new government medical colleges in Virudhunagar, Kallakurichi and Ooty, and 100 seats, Tiruvalur, Tiruppur and Ramanathapuram Medical Colleges.
“This center also promises the country will consider demand to add 100 seats in college and coimbatore government hospitals, we hope to get a nod this year,” Subramanian said.
Even though the country has submitted 200 seats in Namakkal, Tiruvallur, Tiruppur and Ramanathapuram, the state may not get it this year, he added.
In August 2019, as part of a national mission to increase the number of medical colleges in this country, the center had given permission to Tamil Nadu to establish 11 medical colleges.
