Kolkata: Many on the lines of Swadaya Group (SHG) run by women, the West Bengal government, in his offer to stop the migration of rural labor, plans to start a scheme for men, senior officials said on Thursday.
According to officials, SHGS for men, the initiative of “first-of-type” in this country, will be named ‘Manufacturers’.
“These groups will be involved in doing small businesses.
The state government will help them through a scheme offered by a different department.
The benefits of this scheme will be brought soon under one umbrella, which can then be melted by men when they start a business.
When they start a business from themselves, “the official explained.
Also, cooperative banks will provide loans to those who are interested, he said.
“We are talking to other banks too.
Men must be able to get loans easily and when the new project was launched,” the official said.
Asked what type of business can pursue, the official said the option could range from horticulture, livestock, food processing to the process of transportation and food restoration.
“The maximum of 10 men will be appointed in a group.
Initially, we planned to establish a group of five,” he said.
This scheme will provide a state-needed country rural economy, while also checking male migration to other countries for work, add senior officials.
