The government provides an administrative nod for land acquisition

Thiruvananthapuram: The State Government has provided administrative sanctions on districts for land acquisition related to the project to build train connectivity to Vizhinjam International Seaport.
The Implementing Director of Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited (VISL) has reported that the Southern Railway has agreed to a detailed project report (DPR) of the train connectivity scheme in principle, which involves the acquisition of the land of 6.431 ha.
Land will be obtained from Balaramapuram Village, Athiyannor, Pallichal and Vizhinjam.
Memorandum Understanding (MoU) was executed with KONKAN RAIL CORPORATION LTD (KRCL) in February 2018 to build train connectivity with Vizhin International Multi-Purpose Port project.
The survey was completed and the DRAFT DPR was submitted in October 2018.
Various alternative partiality was also studied for train connectivity to the project.
A committee was formed with the additional Secretary (port) as chairman and technical representatives from the train, Chief Engineer (Road), PWD, Head of Technical Examination, Finance & MD, VISL as a member to evaluate the DRAFT DPR prepared by KRCL and to make recommendations to government.
The committee, after making a comparison between the possibility of the alignments submitted by KRCL in terms of technical viability, has found that the most appropriate route is that connecting ports with Balaramapuram train station has a total length of 10,772 km through underground tunnel, according to the order issued by the government issued This was from the project later, a MoU was signed with the KRCL who sent the DPR to approve the South Railway in May 2019.
After supervision of the DPR at the Techauvananthapuram Regional Manager Office, the House of Representatives was sent to Chennai.
KRCL has sent a technical scale plan in November 2019.
The technical scale plan has received principle approval.
The train has approved the non-government train model for the project in March 2020.
The total project costs have been estimated at 1,032 crore Rs, including the cost of Rs 154.20 Crore, for land acquisition.
