New Delhi: The government has rejected the claim that it has decided to expand the “Branch” of the Supreme Court to three locations.
Press the information bureau Press ‘check’ tweeted on Tuesday that the claim is “fake”.
“The forwarding message was distributed at WhatsApp claiming that the government had decided to expand the Branches of the Indian Supreme Court to three locations.
The claim was false,” said Tweet.
It is said “no such decision” has been taken by the government.
The government has several occasions informing the parliament that the idea of opening a separate bench from the APEX court outside Delhi has not received a favor with the Supreme Court.
In a written reply to the question at Lok Sabha in September last year, Ravi’s Law Minister Shankar Prasad said representation was received from time to time from various quarters to establish the Supreme Court bench in various parts of the country.
“The Law Commission, in the 229th report, also suggested that the constitutional bench is regulated in Delhi and four cassation benches established in the northern region of Delhi, the southern region of Chennai / Hyderabad, the eastern region of Kolkata and Western region in Mumbai.” The idea of the Court bench Agung apart outside Delhi has not received a favor with the Supreme Court of India, “he said.
