Patna: Bihar Rajya Pul Nigam Limited (BRPNL) will build the subway to connect Patna Junction with the proposed multimodal transportation hub in Bakri Bazaar through Mahavir and Multi-level car parking near the Buddha Smriti Park.
It will help pedestrians, who find it difficult to cross the busy and clogged station to reach the patna junction.
It will also be the first pedestrian subway with escalators in the city.
Subway is part of the construction project of the Railroad area Patna Smart City Limited (PSCL) and will appear by utilizing funds to the RS68 Crore Nada.
According to sources, subways will be built in 8 meters.
Managing Director of PSCL-Cum-Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Himanshu Sharma said the agency was chosen and the work would begin as the foundation stone for this project was placed.
“This subway will connect three important points, including Patna Junction, multimodal transit hub and multi-level car park.
People will feel comfortable to travel to and from Patna Junction without facing traffic near the Mahavir Mandir roundabout.
It is to bring as many pedestrians as much as possible and let the driver use the road.
It will also subside from the traffic highway at Station Road, “he said.
Sharma said the multimodal transit hub, where different transportation modalities such as private taxis, autorickshaws, buses will be fulfilled, are also part of the project rebuilding train area.
“The five-story building will bring non-limited passenger transfers.
The detailed project report from this building is being prepared by the Ministry of Building Construction and Testing of Land in Bakri Bazaar carried out on Saturday (November 13) by the officials concerned,” he told this newspaper.
An overbridge that connects second-level multi-level car parking with flyover stations (between pillars 7 and 8) will also be built for the right utilization of the existing parking lot.
Commuters who come to Patna Junction will use this overbridge to park their car directly in MLP without facing congestion near The Budh Marg.
The estimated cost of overbridge is around RS17 Crore.
Meanwhile, construction work in the building of the Command and Integrated Control (ICCCC) of the building at the SSP Patna office near Gandhi Maidan has been completed under the City City project.
L & T has been chosen to regulate IT-based monitoring systems to provide a variety of smart services and solutions.
Public Relations Officers PSCL Harshita said the company would put optical fiber, develop server space and other software to provide smart services to the city residents.
ICCC will integrate all civil service and important to one platform aimed at monitoring and overcoming public problems in real time.
The total cost of the project is around RS221 Crore while RS15 Crore has been spent on the construction of the ICCCC building.
According to the source at the PSCL, the ICCCC building will be inaugurated this month by Minister of Minister Nith Kumar, who will also put the foundation stone for the subway.
