New Delhi: The government will come out with the design of the film policy model based on film facilitation policies launched by 14 countries, information union and Secretary of the Broadcasting of the Chandra Apurva on Monday.
Speaking at the film tourism symposium in Mumbai, held together by the Ministry of Tourism and Information and Broadcasting, Chandra said the government would circulate film model policies to other countries so that they could facilitate filmmaking in India.
Chandra said 18 countries currently provide incentives for filmmaking and adding that India needs to focus on the ‘convenience of filming’, rather than incentives.
“Ease of shooting and easy from free distance is very important,” he said.
He also said the existing permit supporing system wanted and said domestic films led to shoot abroad.
“The Film Facilitation Office has facilitated 120 international filmmakers from 27 countries to shoot in India in the last 5-6 years since its establishment in 2015.

Union Tourism Secretary, Arvind Singh, on the other hand, said the state government should consider building a film promotion office, preferably at the office of the minister of the chairman to accelerate film shooting permissions.
He also said this was needed because most problems regarding the approval of being localized and within the scope of the state government and that the film promotion office must have the authority to intervene and sort out problems at the local level, wherever needed.

He also said the Ministry of Tourism has signed the MoU with the I & B and NFDC ministries to promote Indian cinemas as extraordinary Indian sub-brands at film festivals such as IFFI in Goa and Cannes Film Festival to develop synergies between tourism and industrial films, and to provide The platform to allow partnerships between the Indian and Global film industry.
