Lucknow: Chairman of Yogi Minister Adyityath said that historical performance of sports people at the Tokyo Olympics and Tokyo Paralympics gave testimony to the concrete steps of the central government to promote sports in this country.
Expressing his gratitude to PM to name the University after the Great Hockey player Yesteryear Major Dhyan Chand, CM Yogi said that the state government under the guidance of PM Modi has taken significant steps to promote sports in the state.
“We are trying to hold a playing field in every village.
We also build stadiums in villages.
In addition, we have established Eklavya sports funds to train and prepare sports people for national and international championships,” Yogi said.
CM said that the state government has also decided to provide government work to sports people who won medals at major national and international events.
He added that the government would provide Rs 6 Crore and Rs 4 Crore to those who won the gold and silver medal at the Olympics.
Yogi said Meerut had got sporting goods under the program of one product one product (Odop).
Spreading more than 91.38 hectares, Dhyanchand Major Sports University will be built with an estimated cost of Rs 700 Crore and promotes the government sustainable mission to build sports culture in the state.

Running the Stadium Track, a separate court for basketball tennis, handball and courtyard, hostel for boys and girls with capacity to accommodate 1,200 students, shopping complexes, guest houses, gymnasiums and multipurpose rooms among others.
The university will have a total of 1080 seats, including 540 each for men and women.
The Proposed Course for Universities is: Physical Education, Health & Applied Sports Science, Sports & Technology Management, Sports Training, Sports & Mass Media Journalism & Technology and Adventure.
The university will offer a three-year degree in sports courses, diplomas and master and PhD courses.
