Thiruvananthapuram: To curb tax avoidance by gold traders, the government will take strict steps, including strengthening the intelligence of sales tax.
The government will also explore the possibility of installing CCTV cameras in the main jewelry shops, where it will be shared with GST offices and police stations.
In the meeting was held to discuss this issue on Tuesday, Minister of Pinarayi Vijayan’s head instructed officials to strengthen inspections in jewelry shops.
The minister’s chairman said that the search must be intensified in all shops and business companies where tax evasion was suspected, and if it was found guilty, officials must take strict steps, including canceling their GST registration.
The minister’s chairman asked the officials to provide incentives to officers who collected taxes, and also asked officials to explore the possibility of installing CCTV cameras in the main jewelry shops, bait from the GST police station.
Clarifying about the possibility of installing CCTV, the head of the minister said that the government did not intend to enter into all types of confrontation with gold traders.

The minister’s chairman added that there were also some who immediately sold gold in customer homes during events such as marriage.
