New Delhi: The government will fully cooperate with the Expert Committee founded by the Supreme Court to investigate the allegations of reconnaissance using Pegasus software, Communication Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Thursday.
He said the government would provide infrastructure, labor, laboratory facilities, and information needed by the committee to complete the probe.
In social media regulations, the minister said that while the social media platform has provided opportunities for people to express themselves freely, at the same time, technology abuse has placed “big load thinking” where it must be regulations.
Speaking at the ‘Times Now Summit 2021’, Vaishnaw stressed that there was a balance between privacy and social responsibility.
“I would say, our policy must have our cultural roots, our needs, our reality in focus when we do policies,” he said, adding that the element of “trust” must come on social media.
The government’s approach is not to censor but to allow self-rules while empowering social media users, Vaishnaw said.
“There must be the first, self-regulations , “he said.

“We are clean about this.
We are really clean about this, so we don’t need to worry about what will come out of this report,” he said.
For the question designated on whether there are no government agents who have bought Pegasus, said Vaishnaw, “I (already) very categorically told in parliament that whatever we do, exactly in the legal framework.
And land law has been clearly placed by the Supreme Court guidelines .
Of course, we are in four legal walls “.
Last month, the Supreme Court established an independent experts panel of three members to investigate the alleged use of the Israeli spyware pegasus for targeted supervision in India.
