PANAJI: The state government has not yet decided to maintain the costs and structure of new licenses for tourist trading in delays.
The new cost regime began to apply earlier this year.
At more than one occasion, stakeholders have asked the government not to implement it because their business is in lethargic because of a pandemic.
However, a senior tourism official said that there was no decision taken at the industrial demand.
The ministry can give them assistance for several months if it was found that the majority of them had not paid the cost of improvement, the official said.
“For hotels starring, in terms of their income, the increase in costs must be a series.
We have not yet decided if the increase in the cost regime must be held.
We must check how many trade paying costs according to the structure of the fresh cost,” the officer said.
New rules that come into force a few months ago not only made registration of tourist trade, including online aggregators, mandatory, but the registration and license fees for tourism trade are also hiked.
Even when the rule draft was introduced in November last year, tourism trade has expressed their displeasure because these costs are increased when this industry is not the best of health because of a pandemic.
Body Trading, Travel and Tourism of the Goa Association (TTAG), then asked the government to delay the implementation of new tariffs with several months or until the situation increased.
While rationalization in the cost structure was introduced after years, and the trade left previously closed, the industry felt that the increase was not on time.
With the introduction of new rules, the registration process is also improvised.
Last season, the Ministry of Tourism has provided a reduction of 50% in the cost of extension for beach huts.
Shack operators said most of them concluded their activities in February-March, at least two to three months before the season could conclude.
The last two seasons were very bad.
“We will want similar help for the coming season too,” said the Shawnandes Fernandes businessman.
