New Delhi: Former Chairperson of the Direct Tax Central Tax (CBDT) Pramod Chandra Mody took over as Secretary General of Rajya Sabha on Friday, replacing PPK Ramacharyulu, a former secretariat service officer, who was appointed as SG recently on September 1 this year.
According to official communication from the secretariat, MODY, the 1982-batch income service official, was appointed Secretary General in the rank and status of the Cabinet Secretary until August 10, 2022, which, according to the Convention, was a coterminus with the Tenurial Vice President of India.
Ramacharyulu, who was released from his accusation as SG without quoting any reason, then appointed consultants and advisors at the hospital secretariat.
It was expected that he could continue until the Naidu term in the office concluded.
Article 98 Constitution prescribes that both parliamentary houses must have separate secretariat and parliament staff, by law, regulate recruitment.
However, the provisions have been given Goby by a sequential government.
