Karachi: After becoming the chairman of the Pakistani cricket board (PCB), former captain Ramiz King has ordered an increase of 100,000 rupees in followers of all domestic players.
The increase in payments will be given to 192 players with domestic contracts with direct effects, PCB said.
The increase in monthly retainer will now allow domestic players in first and 11th grade competition to produce between 140,000 to 250,000 per month.
PCB said the new chairman ordered a salary increase for players in all categories meaning they in the lowest D category would see an increase of around 250 percent in their monthly followers.
“It is our duty to care for our Cricketers and continue to take steps that strengthen our system,” said Ramiz.
“It will also play a role in ending uncertainty surrounding the current cricket structure; today’s welfare and former Cricketers are very important to me.” The new chairman also said that the Board would soon launch the U-19 T20 league to strengthen the structure of the age group and ensure that young cricket is fully equipped for modern games.
Ramiz also promises a large increase in the quality of pitch in domestic cricket, insisting that bowlers must work hard to get a goal and batsmen given the conditions in which they can make a big score.
