New Delhi: India-America Gita Gopinath, Chief of Economist International Monetary Fund, called for Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.
The meeting came a few days after the IMF announced that he was being promoted as the first deputy director.
He will replace Geoffrey Okamoto who plans to leave funds early next year.
Gopinath, which is scheduled to return to his academic position at Harvard University in January 2022, has served as Chief of the IMF economist for three years.
“The head of the IMF economist, @gitagopinath called PM @Narendramodi,” The Office of the Prime Minister (PMO) tweeted along with several photos from the meeting.
