New Delhi: The Head of Staff of the Army General on Thursday met the Italian partner Lt Gen Pietro Sermino and Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini in Rome and held a broad talk that focused on strengthening bilateral defense cooperation, including military-to-military involvement.
Army Chief of Staff arrived in Rome on Wednesday on a two-day visit in the second leg of two countries in England and Italy.
Regarding his meeting with the Italian Minister of Defense Guerini, officials said they exchanged views on strengthening defense cooperation between the two countries.
“General MM Naravane #CoAs interacts with Lieutenant General Pietro Serino, head of the Italian army and discussed aspects of the cooperation of military cooperation together,” the army tweeted.
Army Chief of Staff is also scheduled for inaugurating the memorial of the Indian army in the city of Italy Cassino.
This memorial has been built to pay homage to Indian soldiers who lost their lives during World War II.
The way to intensify defense cooperation has been prominent in the virtual summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte in November last year.
Two prime ministers have underlined the need to further expand defense involvement through collaborative collaboration between two-way and technology, including shared development and production with military hardware.
Italy has been the source of procurement of hardware and military platforms by the Indian Armed Forces.
The visit of Naravane Gen to Italy came a few days after the Indian Navy, Tabar and Frigate Italy, Antonio Marceglia did a two-day maritime partnership training at the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Exercises on July 4 and 5 included a variety of naval surgery, including air defense procedures, charging in the sea, communication and operating operations of Helo cross decks during the day and night, said an Indian navy spokesman.
Defense and military relations between the two countries have witnessed stable expansion.
