The United Nations: UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres will travel to Geneva to hold a high-level conference on Afghan assistance on September 13, his spokesman on Friday.
The state, now under the control of the Taliban after 20 years of war, faced “a so-towering humanitarian disaster,” Stephane Dujric said.
“This conference will advocate for increasing funds in funding so that saving humanitarian operations can continue; and beg for full humanitarian access and without obstacles to ensure that Afghans continue to get the important services they need,” he said in a statement.
He said the increase in development must also be protected in the country and that women’s rights are “important” part of Afghan’s future stability.
Even before the Taliban victory, Afghanistan was very helpful – with 40 percent of the country’s GDP was taken from foreign funding.
The United Nations has warned 18 million people to face a humanitarian disaster, and 18 million can quickly join them.
“One of the three Afghans does not know where their food is next.
Nearly half of all children under the age of five are expected to lack nutrition in the next 12 months,” Dujarric said.
Residents in Kabul have voiced concerns over the country’s long-term economic difficulties, now seriously exacerbated by the takeover of hardline movements.
The United States ended his war in Afghanistan on August 30, two weeks after the Afghan government fell and the Taliban controlled Kabul.
These days were marked by the evacuation of the Americans who were frenzied, foreigners and Afghans escaped from the new Taliban regime.
Since the departure of the US, the Taliban has worked with Qatar to get airports in Kabul, for life for help, operations again.
On Thursday, the United Nations said it had continued humanitarian flights to parts of the country, connecting the capital of Pakistan Islamabad with Mazar-I-Sharif in North Afghanistan and Kandahar in the south.
The country flag carrier Ariana Afghane Airlines continued domestic flights on Friday, while the United Arab Emirates sent aircraft carrying “medical assistance and urgent food.”
