Coimbatore: All Women’s Police Team on Saturday Catching a 29-year-old Flight Lieutenant on charges of raping a colleague at the College Campus Administrative Air in Coimbatore two weeks ago.
The police identified the defendant as Amitesh Harmukh from Durg, Chhattisgarh, who was in the city to take part in the induction program.
Even though the woman told the IAF senior officer about the incident, there was no action taken against Amitesh.
Not satisfied with the department’s investigation, he approached the city police.
“We received a complaint from him a few days ago.
We registered firs against officers and arrested him,” said Police Commissioner Coimbatore Deepak M Damor.
Amitesh nested in Udumalpet JailThe Inspector of the Central All-Woman Police, E Nirmala, arrested Amitesh on Saturday night.
He was ordered below Section 376 (rape) of the IPC, sent in judge prisoners, and lodged in Udumalpet Sub-prison on Sunday.
“The IAF authority asked us not to stay in prison.
We asked them to approach the court because the problem was sub too,” said a police officer to Ti.
He was among the 30 officers who reached the Air Force College Administration on August 15 to attend an induction program.
