PANAJI: The Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant on Thursday said that the state government will soon announce a place where the IIT-Goa campus will be arranged.
There is no place to regulate the IIT-Goa in Tuem in Pernem Taluka, Sawant told reporters.
“The state government identifies land to establish IIT-Goa,” he said.

It seems that the government failed to study the lessons of experience – especially from Loliem and Melauli.

In March, the state government has formed a committee to identify land to establish IIT-Campus in the state.
The Committee held a meeting and discussed the location to be identified for the project.
In January, the minister’s chairman accessed the request of the local population of Melauli to shift the IIT project from the village.
“The decision to shift the IIT project was taken by considering people’s sentiment and the demand for the Minister of Health Vishwajit Rane, who was also a local MLA, and local representatives said the government’s movement to cancel the project in Melauli was the highlight of the six-month agitation by the population.
The government has a previous identified site In Canacona and Sanguem for the Institute.
Minister of Power and Curchorem Mla Nilesh Cabral said that his constituents “welcome” the project.
The IIT-Goa is currently functioning from the Coole Engineering College campus at Farmagudi, Ponda.
The government can now find sites in Sanguem or Quepem .
