Udhagamandalam: The Ministry of Forestry on Tuesday launched a four-day animal immunization camp for livestock in villages around the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR) – buffer zone, to prevent the transmission of acute disease from wild animals.
According to forest officials, around 4,600 livestock heads from 16 villages, including Siriyur, Anaikatty, Chokkanli, Konumbadi and Achchakarai, will be immunized during the camp.
The immunization camp will be held in two sessions every day.
The first session will be from 6am to 9 in the morning and the second session, from 4pm to 19:00, the official said.
Three veterinary teams have been formed for this purpose.
Officials appeal to people to take advantage of facilities for their livestock.
