New Delhi: The area that has suffered a Delta outbreak may not have a big problem with a Delta Plus variant, because of a reasonable cross neutralization of AY.1 by antibodies submitted against Delta in the population, the Genomic Consortium SARS-COV-2 India (Insacog) said in the latest bulletin.
Delta Plus (AY.1) variant has been detected in 56 samples so far from 13 states and UTS since last week of March, the bulletin published on June 28 said.
These countries are Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Punjab, Gujarat, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, Jammu and Karnataka.
“Until now, the number of cases with AY.1 infection does not increase faster than that with Delta.
However, Insacog keeps it close to the situation, because the delta sub-genealogy is a concerned variant,” he said.
